CELL PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES
At Camp Caravan we are giving our dancers and staff the gift of unplugging for a few days and concentrating on what they love; “dance” with the added bonus of making new friends. In our experience the use of cell phones and personal electronic devices severely limits the process of meeting new people, making new friends and actively participating in camp activities. We are also teaching them independence and to resolve issues with the help of other supportive adults who will immediately resolve all issues – lowering homesickness as they will connect to the camp experience. 'No news is good news, when it comes to camp".
We rent our facilities therefore we do not have a dedicated phone or internet lines. Phone calls in and out of camp are limited to medical emergencies. During camp the camp office number (TBA) rings to a cell phone voicemail. Voicemail is checked each evening at 7pm and all calls are returned by noon the following day. Please make sure to leave a call back number with each message. Also 5-7 times a week you will receive an email recapping the day’s events. If you have any concerns with this policy contact the camp office.
Note: Dancers using public transportation to arrive at camp are encouraged to have their cell phone for safety during travel and to contact parents of safe arrival, it will be held in the camp office while at camp.
